Alice's Adventures in Wonderland Review- Read June 1st and 2nd

" 'Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?'
'That depends a good deal on where you want to get to,' said the Cat.
'I don't much care where-' said Alice
'Then it doesn't matter which way you go,' said the Cat"
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll - This is my favorite quote.

I could talk for hours about how much this book has impacted me throughout my whole life. I will have a post probably next week with my top 20 influential books and this will be on that list. This is one of the books that I look forward to reading every year now and is the book that started my love for Alice in Wonderland retellings. This month is going to have many of them so I thought why not read the original that started the craze.

For those that do not know, this is the story of Alice and her adventure that she has in the land of Wonderland. There she meets many different strange and interesting characters and learns about herself. This is a story of a young girl's wild imagination. Alice at the start of the book sees a white rabbit that she follows down a rabbit hole into Wonderland. This hole goes on for a long time where she starts to question many different things that she learned in school. You can really tell Alice's age by the way she describes her lessons and also what she has learned. Her voice is an authentic young child's voice (she's seven years old). After the fall she goes throughout Wonderland meeting famous characters such as the blue caterpillar, the Hatter, the March Hare, the Duchess (a interesting but annoying character), the Queen and King of Hearts, the Cheshire Cat and so many others. Each of these characters are so multi-leveled and our some of my favorites in all of literature.

This is a tale that sparks my interest. I love the characters and I love what can be learned from this tale. This time around I picked up on so many different things that I never realized before. If you have not read this novel before I would recommend picking it up. It is a different type of read but you just might enjoy it. I know that I have enjoyed it every time that I have read it. Alice is a character that is young but I can relate to her so much. Also once you read the whole book it will make more sense at least it did for me once I knew the ending.
