Disney's Hercules Review

🏺 Disney's Hercules Movie Review- Watched June 27th ⚡

In Honor of the 20th Anniversary of Hercules

How better to spend the day than watch this movie? This is my second favorite Disney movie right below The Little Mermaid. It is the well-known hero story. Hercules goes off on a mission wanting to find out who he really is. He meets his father, Zeus, who tells him he has to become a true hero to join him as a God again. Hercules sets out to meet Philotetes (Phil for short). Over the course of the movie, Hades sets out on his mission. He falls in love, has to fight many creatures, and finds out what it means to be a true hero. 

"Zeusy I'm home"- Hades 

One of the reasons that I adore this movie and the biggest reason is James Woods as Hades. He is the funniest character in the movie if not the funniest in all of the Disney movies. He is my favorite Disney villain. I just adore him as a character. He's snarky, sarcastic, self-depreciating, and probably is the best part of the movie. Oh and I recommend watching the movie until the end credits because Hades talks to you. This was one of my favorite things when I was a kid. I want a Hades' movie right now. Come on Disney. Please. 

"I would go most anywhere to find where I belong"- Hercules "I Can Go the Distance" 

The music in this movie is perfect. Every single song hits me so hard when I hear them. I know all of the words because of a number of times I have listened to them and watched the movie. My favorite is "I won't say I'm in love" sung by Meg. It was just a song that I have always enjoyed singing myself. Also, the visuals with this are great.

Greek Mythology has always been one of my favorite things to watch and read about and I blame that unconditional love on this movie. Thanks, Hercules you started an obsession that I will never get enough of. That's the one thing that I can easily say about this movie. No, it is not the same as the Greek Myths, which is a good thing since this is a kids movie. It made me want to research more about these characters and learn about the origins of them. I have heard so many people make fun of the fact that this is not a complete adaptation of the myths but I think that is a good thing. It is a great story that I love fully and cannot get enough of.

20 years later I am still so obsessed with it. Here's to many more.

📚 Books I am Anticipating for Summer 2017  😊

This is going to be a short post for today because I just want to show the books that I am looking forward to reading so much over the next couple of months. I will write reviews for each of these books once I finally read them. 

1. The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzie Lee: Was released on June 27th

It came to my house yesterday and
 I'm already half way through it. It's great so far. :)

2. Because You Love to Hate Me edited by Amerie: Will be released July 11th. 

3. Words in Deep Blue by Cath Crowley: Was released on June 6th.

4. The Crowns of Croswald by D. E. Night: Will be released July 21st

5.  The Wendy Project by Melissa Jane Osborne: Will be released on July 18th


And the one I am anticipating the most is...

The Land of Stories: Worlds Collide by Chris Colfer: Will be released July 11th.   

Because You Love to Hate Me Sampler Review

Because You Love to Hate Me Edited by Ameriie Sampler Review- Read June 12th 

I am not going to do a rating for this because I only read a sampler with three stories in it. 

The full book will be released July 11th. 

I received the sampler from the publisher Bloomsbury and was very excited to get to read some of it early. 

Villains are some of my favorite characters in stories and when I had first heard about this collection of short stories I was excited. Then I found out that each of the stories were written by popular young adult authors, which intrigued me. Also many popular Booktubers have contributed to this piece. First, they picked the villain that their selected author would write about and then they wrote a commentary on the villain and the piece. 

My favorite story so far in this piece was about the villain, James Moriarty from Sherlock Holmes stories. I never knew too much about Moriarty but this made me want to read more about him. I loved the update on the story and the changes made. 

I cannot wait to see what else is in this volume. Again thank you very much Bloomsbury for the sampler. 

I will do a full review of the book once I receive it around July 11th. 

Heartless by Marissa Meyer

Heartless by Marissa Meyer- Read June 6th-9th

This book was incredible and is one of my favorites so far of the year. I adored this book and it was hard for me to read it at times because I knew what was going to happen to Catherine the whole time. This is the origin story of the Queen of Hearts one of the memorable characters of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Throughout the story, each of the denizens of Wonderland is shown and we learn how they ended up where they are and how they are in the novel. Catherine is the future Queen of Hearts who has the affection of the King of Hearts who deeply loves the young woman. Catherine does not want his love or to become queen, she wants to open up her own bakery. She is known throughout the kingdom for her wonderful treats. At the ball, that she is supposed to be proposed to at, she meets Jest, who she falls hard for. She and Jest secretly court each other because of her family and the king. Catherine wants nothing more than choosing her path but she has fate to fight with. She will be the future Queen of Hearts even if she does not want it. 

I knew how this book was going to turn out, though I hoped with everything in me that maybe Catherine would have a somewhat happy ending. This book was a beautiful take on her story and I could not get enough of her story. She was such a wonderful character throughout. Also, the other Wonderland characters were represented well throughout. It was really awesome to figure out some of the characters that were from the original story. I will not spoil what happens in this novel for those that have not read it but I will highly recommend this story. 

This is one of the best retellings I have ever read, though it's more of an origin story. I love how this was my first Marissa Meyer read and I will definitely be picking up The Lunar Chronicles sometime soon. She is a great author who wrote an amazing novel. I'm happy that she decided to write this novel and got the idea. Amazing! 

Gosh and now the white roses bring on a whole new meaning. Marissa Meyer has now changed my whole perspective of Wonderland and the Queen. Also the title Heartless sort of breaks my heart so darn much. I love this novel.
