The Movies Tag

Created by Elimarie on Youtube:

1. Favorite movie of all time?
🍂 Stardust which is based on the book by Neil Gaiman

2. Favorite scene from that movie?
🍂 Captain Shakespeare crossdressing scene. It's hilarious. Also, the scenes with the ghosts are great.

3. Favorite actors/ actresses?
🍂 Actor: Robin Williams, Mark Hamill, and Brendan Fraser
🍂 Actress: Carrie Fisher and Julia Roberts
Carrie Fisher

Robin Williams
4. Most annoying actor/actress?
🍂 Rob Schneider in everything he's in. Also, Tom Cruise

5. Best director?
🍂 I have to say Tim Burton, at least with his earlier movies.

6. Favorite guilty pleasure film?
🍂 I don't feel guilty at all for liking this but I guess it's sort of cheesy: My Best Friend's Wedding.

🍂 Also, The Game Plan, which I adore with all my heart.

7. Favorite tear jerker?
🍂 My Girl, which is my second favorite movie. This devastates me and it's very beautiful.

8. Character from a movie that scared you the most?
🍂 Freddy Krueger, 100 % and he still does.

9. Movie you love everyone hates?
🍂 Mamma Mia, really I don't know if everyone hates this, but a lot of people do. I don't know why I like it but I just do. Also, I agree with everyone that says that Pierce Brosnan can't sing. Trust me, I know. Really, it's funny to laugh at those parts, just listen to "SOS" and you will know what I mean.
(Great now, Dancing Queen is stuck in my head again. Time to listen to the soundtrack again.)

10. Movie you hate everyone loves?
🍂 The Matrix, I cannot get into it.

11. Favorite movie duo?
🍂 Han Solo and Chewbacca, really it's no competition.

12. Favorite animated movie?
🍂 The Little Mermaid or Disney's Hercules

13. Actor/actress crush?
🍂 Harrison Ford, Leonardo Dicapro, Luke Evans and Brendan Fraser

14. Favorite movie villain?
   🍂 Darth Vader

15. What movie surprised you the most?
🍂 Shutter Island: I did not think I would like this movie but I really did. It's scary.

16. If you could only keep one movie what would it be?
🍂 Can I say all of them? No, okay... I guess Stardust.

17. Movie recommendation and for whom?
🍂 The Empire Strikes Back- to absolutely everyone. Though if you watch this you should probably at least watch A New Hope and then Return of the Jedi after Empire. So yep I love Star Wars so much.

18. If you could go back in time and marry actor/actress from back when (now old) who would it be?
   🍂 Harrison Ford
   🍂 Brendan Fraser

19. One remake you wish had never been made?
🍂 Smoky and the Bandit 3: This is technically not a remake. It's more of a sequel but still. I love the first two movies but the last one is pretty awful.

🍂 A remake I would choose is Dirty Dancing. The original from 1987 is so great and they should have never remade it. Also, I have heard the remake is awful. I know I'll never watch it.
Patrick Swayze was and always will be Johnny.

20. About to die but could only watch one more movie, what would it be?
🍂 The Little Mermaid or Disney's Hercules

Movie Monday: Review of Casper Meets Wendy

🎃Movie Monday: October 2nd, 2017
Review of Casper Meets Wendy
Watched October 1st, 2017 🎃
🎞️🎞️🎞️
Image result for casper meets wendyThis is the first time in many years that I have watched this movie and I enjoyed it, but it was not as good as I remembered it. The best part of this film is the villain which I will get into later on. The title characters, Casper and Wendy's friendship is cute. This is a very corny movie that really did not hold up to what I remember from it. It's a great movie for kids, but I'm not so sure for adults.

Image result for casper meets wendyMy favorite part of this movie is the villain, Desmond Spellman, his goons Jules and Vincent, and the oracle in the mirror. Every part of the movie that has any of them is funny. Desmond is played by the great George Hamilton and is a reason to watch this movie. Really, I would recommend this movie just for his parts. The rest does not have much substance, but his parts made up for that for me.

There are plenty of great movies from my childhood that still hold up for me today, this is not one of them. I did enjoy parts of the movie most of them being with Desmond. He's not in it enough for me to make it completely enjoyable. Actually, I became bored while watching many of the other parts. I loved Hilary Duff in this movie, especially seeing the difference from then and now. I'm glad I started with this movie for my October, they will only get better now.

October Books and Movies

🎃 October Books and Movies:
What I Want to Read and Watch 🎃

I will not be reading all of these books, but these are the ones that I will be picking from this month. I hope to be able to read most of these. Every year in October I also like to watch many Halloween movies that I have since I was a kid so I will be taking some time to do that.

🎃 The Books 🎃
👻 Mask of Shadows by Linsey Miller Audiobook -
I will be finishing this book early this month because I started it in September. So far I am fully enjoying it. This is an audiobook that I received for an honest review.

☠️ Tropic of Kansas by Christopher Brown
This is another book that I received for an honest review. It's a dystopian novel that looks quite interesting. I haven't read one in over three years, so I'm interested to see how I like it.

🦇 William Shakespeare's plays Macbeth, Hamlet, and King Lear
Shakespeare's plays are usually quick reads for me so I'm hoping I can get through these in a day or two. I have read Macbeth three times before (in eighth and eleventh grade and in my third year of college). I want to read it again because Wyrd Sisters is based on it and also Hamlet. I also have read Hamlet in my senior year of high school. I want to read King Lear because Fool is based on it and I have never read King Lear. Let's hope I enjoy it. If I get through these quickly I hope that I can maybe get to Merchant of Venice too, but if I don't I already have read it so it's not a big deal.

💀 Fool and Serpent of Venice by Christoper Moore -
These are two books that I have been meaning to read since I got the sequel Serpent of Venice. I have had Fool for over a year, but I wanted to wait for the sequel. They are based on three of Shakespeare's plays: Hamlet, King Lear, and Merchant of Venice.

🕸️ Sourcery and Wyrd Sisters by Terry Pratchett -
The next two books in Terry Pratchett's Discworld series. These will definitely be books that I read this month. I hope to read at least two of his books each month until I finish them. These are the two that I wanted to read in October so I'm glad that I got to them. I cannot wait to read them.

🍬 This Monstrous Thing by Mackenzi Lee
Earlier this year, I heard of Mackenzi Lee for the first time because she was doing an interview about her new book The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue. I really enjoyed her personality and looked into her book more and also her. That is when I also heard about this book and that it was based on Frankenstein. I really enjoy Frankenstein and the premise of this book sounds really intriguing. It is the book I am looking forward to the most this month.

👻 Rhett and Link's Book of Mythicality: A Field Guide to Curiosity, Creativity, and Tomfoolery by Rhett McLaughlin and Link Neal
This is a book that had to be on this list. I have been waiting for this book since the first day I heard about it and pre-ordered it literally the minute after I heard about it. Rhett and Link are two of my favorite YouTube creators and Good Mythical Morning has become a part of my life that I fully enjoy. I make sure to watch them every weekday. So on October 10th, when their book comes to my house I will be reading it. Yay, it's almost here!

☠️ Turtles All the Way Down by John Green -
This is another book that I have been waiting for since John first announced it months ago. John's books are some of my favorite contemporaries and I have been waiting for another book for about four or five years. Also, this book sounds great. I loved his reading of the first chapter on YouTube a bit ago. I also pre-ordered this book and will be reading it whenever I actually receive it. This also comes out on October 10th, but I will be getting it probably a week after that. Cannot wait!

🎃 The Movies 🎃

👻 Hocus Pocus
Every year I watch this movie at least once if not twice in the month of October. This is my favorite Halloween movie and it is one of my favorite movies of all time. I cannot wait!

☠️ Halloweentown and Halloweentown II: Kalabar's Revenge
This is going to be a bittersweet rewatch after the death of Debbie Reynolds last year. I grew up on these movies and there has not been a year that I don't watch them at least once in October. Another favorite of mine. They will never get old.

🦇 The Nightmare Before Christmas
This will be the first time that I have watched this movie since I was a kid. I know that this is a well-loved movie and I enjoyed the story in the manga. What I'm really looking forward to are the visuals which I already love from what I have seen. Also, the music is some of my favorite from Disney movies. "This is Halloween" and "What's This".

💀 Casper Meets Wendy-
Most of this list of Halloween movies are going to ones that I have loved from an early age. This is another that I usually watch every year. It's been quite a while since I watched it, so I'm excited to see it again. This is what made me love Hilary Duff from a young age.

🕸️ Underwraps-
This is another classic Disney Channel original movie that I loved as a kid. I have always loved the story of the mummy befriending the kids.

🍬 Tower of Terror-
This movie is almost tied with Hocus Pocus as my favorite on the list. I have always loved the mystery in this movie and loved the creepy feeling that it gave me. Also, I loved Steve Guttenberg in it.

Favorite Fancasts/ Top Five Wednesday

🎞️ Favorite Fancasts (Top Five Wednesday)- September 20th, 2017 📚
Here are the top five actors that I would like to play some of my favorite characters. These are in no particular order.

Top 5 Wednesday is a group created by Lainey of Ginger Reads Lainey on Booktube. It is now hosted by Sam of Thoughts on Tomes on Booktube. Here is a link to the group on Goodreads if you are interested in checking it out.

5.)  David Tennant as every character ever. Okay in all seriousness, I would want him to play Death in an adaptation of any of the books in Terry Pratchett's Discworld series. I think that he would play the character perfectly and it would be interesting to see him do this role.

It's funny because before I heard that they were actually making Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman into a mini-series, I actually thought David would be perfect for Crowley. So I guess I got one right. I cannot wait for this show.

4.) Hailee Steinfeld as Sammie from The Memory Book by Lara Avery: I just think Hailee would play the role of Sammie well.

3.) Ezra Miller as Baz from Carry On by Rainbow Rowell: If there ever a movie made of this book I really would love Ezra to play this part. He, I believe would make the perfect Baz. He is actually who I thought of when I read the book and I never really think of fancasting when I read books.

2.) Chris Colfer as Froggy from The Land of Stories series by Chris Colfer: This is a series that I have mentioned countless times on this blog and that is because I just adore it. I first got introduced to Chris from the tv series Glee. His character was my favorite on the show from the beginning and he is also one of my favorite actors from the show. Then I started reading his books the day that the first book came out and loved his writing even more than the show. It was just the perfect series for me. I believe that Chris would play the character of Froggy well and I am not alone in this idea. Many who love the series feel this way. Now that we know that we are getting a movie series I wish that he would play the part but I know that he doesn't want to. He would be my pick though.

1.)  Mark Hamill as The Pillar from the Insanity series by Cameron Jace: This is one of my favorite series. It's self-published on Amazon and I fell in love with it so much. Cameron is a great writer and I love his twist on Alice in Wonderland. This is a creepy series with menacing characters, especially Carter Pillar. Mark Hamill, I believe would be the perfect choice for this character. His menacing voice that he has with his voice acting is incredible and it would just make my day to see him play this part. He could go between the humorous scenes of Professor Pillar and the more brutal scenes well. Also, he's one of my favorite actors of all time so he had to make this list.

Movie Monday: Review of The Hobbit: The Unexpected Journey

🍂 Movie Monday: Sept. 18th, 2017
Review of The Hobbit: The Unexpected Journey
Watched September 16th, 2017 🍂
🎞️🎞️🎞️🎞️🎞️

I have loved the original Lord of the Rings trilogy since I was a child and I have been wanting to watch The Hobbit trilogy for quite awhile. On Saturday, I finally watched the first movie in the trilogy and I enjoyed it. I did read the book when I was around twelve or thirteen but do not remember much besides major plot points. So basically, I went into this movie not sure of what to expect. I'm sure that this series is not accurate as adaptations, but as a prequel to The Lord of the Rings movies, I enjoyed this.

The movie opens with Bilbo Baggins, who is approaching his 111th birthday. He is writing down his story of what happened during his adventures in The Hobbit and is telling his nephew, Frodo of what has occurred. These scenes take place directly before what occurs in The Fellowship of the Ring. Then we go from a visual of him blowing in his pipe at his older age, to him blowing in his pipe as a young hobbit (at the age of 50). I enjoyed this little visual. Bilbo has a conversation with the wizard Gandalf, who tricks Bilbo into hosting a party for a group of thirteen dwarfs. He slowly finds out that Gandalf has convinced these dwarfs that he will work with them as their burglar. The dwarfs have a plan to go to the Lonely Mountain and take it back for the dwarfs.

In the beginning of the movie, we get the backstory of the dragon, Smaug coming to the Lonely Mountain, which the dwarfs owned. He takes the mountain and all of their gold. Thorin, the grandson of the king of the dwarfs wants to take back his land and has gathered the thirteen dwarfs to accomplish this. Bilbo is reluctant about taking a part in the adventure. Hobbits are not known for wanting adventure. The dwarfs stay in Bilbo's house for the night and leave early the next morning before Bilbo even wakes. Bilbo decides to go on the adventure running after them.

One of the enjoyable aspects of this movie is the humor. This is based on a novel that was much lighter in tone than The Lord of the Rings trilogy and it's obvious. There are darker scenes but a humorous tone takes up a good portion of the movie. I loved this movie's humor and to me, it's hilarious a good portion of the time. My favorite character is Smeagol/ Gollum. Gollum has been corrupted by a ring that becomes very important in The Lord of the Rings trilogy. It was funny to see his interactions with Bilbo and just his characteristics again. I have always enjoyed Gollum, even though he used to really creep me out when I was a child (side note: I used to be able to imitate him pretty well).

Also, Martin Freeman was a great pick for Bilbo. From what I remember of the book, he played Bilbo perfectly. His mannerisms compared to the dwarfs is enjoyable to watch. He brings a lot to the character and was a joy to see. Then we have Sir Ian McKellan reprising his role as Gandalf. I remember when I first heard that they were making these movies and I could not wait to see him as Gandalf again. He was and will always be one of my top favorite older wizards (along with Dumbledore and Merlin).

Overall, I really enjoyed what they did with this movie. I'm not going to judge it as an adaptation because I really do not remember enough of the novel to do this. As a movie that is meant to be a prequel of one of my favorite movie trilogies of all time, I loved it. I will be watching the rest of the movies soon and cannot wait. It took me too long to watch this movie series and I will make sure to rectify this soon. I recommend this movie for fantasy lovers and anyone who has watched The Lord of the Rings movies and loved them. I believe you will enjoy this movie.
